Dancing with Dionysos (2022)

Dancing with Dionysus is an exhibition that explores yeast and its interaction with humans. The exhibition consists of 4 hand-blown glass sculptures containing home-brewed wines based on fruits and berries, as well as the video work Gjæringtanker.

Yeasts are microscopic single-celled fungi that live all around us. From the forest to the inside and outside of our bodies. We have also cultivated the yeast, and utilised them for brewing. Even if we domesticate and control them, the yeast has power over us. They are intertwined in our culture, where they have changed people's genetic material, and possibly helped develop civilization from hunter/gatherers to agricultural societies.

The exhibition has been produced with support from the Kulturrådet, BKV, and the Nordic Art Center Dale. The glass sculptures were produced at S12 in Bergen together with Galla Theodosis. Exhibition documentation by Istvan Virag
